Still Life

All of these still life drawings are done on grounds I make using a genuine Renaissance formula. This special ground (or undercoat) carefully applied to hot press watercolour paper holds very fine detail, which allows an amazing variety of textural effects as well as a wide tonal range depending on the metal used. These attributes make the Renaissance grounds a good choice for my hyper-realist renditions of still life subjects.

It takes 5 days to prepare the drawing surface before a mark is made with a metal stylus.
